The new August Wilson Society is happy to announce its collaboration with the Eugene O’Neill Society, the Arthur Miller Society, the Susan Glaspell Society, the Thornton Wilder Society, and the American Theatre and Drama Society to participate in a series of panels and roundtables on the theme of The Theater of Engagement, conceived in the broadest sense.
The topic is meant to include social, political, and historical engagement, as well as engagement in philosophical and aesthetic ideas and engagement with other theater artists, audiences, and texts. Contributions that analyze or extend the idea of engagement are especially welcome.
Call for Papers
The Cycle Continues: August Wilson and the Theater of Engagement
Fifteen-minute papers are invited for a panel session on any aspect of external engagement in relation to Wilson’s work, in any genre or medium. Please send one-page proposals, including name, academic affiliation, email address, paper title, and abstract to Michael Downing downing@kutztown.edu. Deadline: January 1.
